Meet Robert: Building Lake Life Memories on Lake Tyler

Robert didn't grow up on the water—he was introduced to the lake life by family friends about 15 years ago. Jet skis, floating, and good memories led him to one decision: when he had kids, the water would be part of their life too. Now, his ATX Surf Boat on Lake Tyler is where his family spends their best days.

How It Started

Fifteen years ago, family friends brought Robert into the lake life. "We'd go out with jet skis, occasionally a boat to float the water," he remembers. "So many good memories were made on the water that we decided to make that a part of our life when we had kids." Fast forward to today, and Robert's family is living that vision—thanks to their ATX.

How ATX Found Them

Robert wasn't initially looking at ATX. "I was originally looking at other brands," he admits. But after meeting the sales crew at Wake Authority and hearing positive reviews from friends who'd purchased Tige or ATX boats, the decision became easy.

"It was within our budget and had most, if not all, of what we were looking for," Robert says. "This boat has been perfect for our family."

What Lake Days Look Like

Ask Robert what a typical lake day looks like, and he'll tell you: there is no typical day for them. "We decide to head out whenever we get the chance. Load up and go."

They unload the boat, jump in the water, fill a tube, or jump on a board. "There's more than enough space and storage on this boat so that we can spend all day on the water," he explains. Tubing, snacking, napping (for the kids), and surfing fill the hours.

As the kids get older, Robert's already planning ahead: "Some sunset cruises will be on the schedule."

His Favorite Memory: Full Circle Moment

Every day on the water is memorable for Robert, but one trip stands out. He had eight family members on his ATX—the same people who introduced him to lake life 15 years ago.

"Taking them out and having them jump on a board to learn to surf was so much fun," Robert says. "We used to do water sports from the back of a jet ski with them. Total upgrade."

The experience brought everything full circle. "It felt like we were back in the old days, 15 years younger, acting like kids all over again."

His Advice: Find What You'll Actually Use

Robert's advice for anyone shopping for a boat? "You don't need to look for the biggest, baddest thing on the market. Look for what you're going to use."

He pauses, then adds with a grin: "Luckily for me, our ATX looks like one of the biggest and baddest on the market."

He also emphasizes the importance of finding the right dealer. "Look for a dealer that's going to be there when you need them—because trust me, you will need them at some point, usually for user error. "

Robert gives a shout-out to Floyd and his crew at Wake Authority: "They're always a phone call away and always willing to help."

Life on Lake Tyler

Robert and his family live just a few miles from Lake Tyler. "Wish we lived on it," he says. "Beautiful lake, amazing restaurant on the marina." They're still relatively new to the area, but the lake life here already feels right. "The lake life here feels tight-knit," Robert explains. "The perfect place for us to enjoy our boat and stir up some waves."
